I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. I moved into the area about 10 months ago and discovered this little gem. Every single dish I've ordered has been great. When I order chai it comes out piping hot, the way it should be in my books. Recently they started giving a free soup appetizer. I had no idea there was a such thing as Indian soup. I've had about 5 different kinds. Don't ask me what they were because I couldn't tell you. What I can say is that every single one of them was absolutely scrupmtious. The other day I went in and ordered some soup to go and I didn't even care what kind it was (turned out to be a lentil soup). Yes it was great. They have quite varied menu so I would say just try whatever and I'm pretty sure you'll be more than happy. The one fellow who I believe to be the owner is super friendly too. A must try place for the Indian and Hakka cuisine. We were visiting group of 25 people from Toronto to Edmonton, while we were staying nearby AIRBNB we ordered their food. We found Great taste, well prepared and fast & effective delivery services. Couple items to mention here are Dry Chilli Chicken, Hakka Noodles, Chicken fried rice, Chilli MO:MOs, Prawn Curry, Bhindi masala and Lamb Briyani. We found lots of choices but couldn't try more than these food items. Owner Bhoj was very caring and friendly. He was checking the feedback after the delivery, Normally we don't expect much caring after delivering food. Best wishes to Spicy HUT Indian Bistro and Bar. Don't judge a book by its cover. This hidden jem is the best Indian food restaurant in Alberta!! We were blown away by the quality of the food. We were 3 and shared some butter chicken, some vindaloo beef, and some Korma chicken, with excellent freshly made butter naans, some divine spinach and cheese dish, and some cauliflower very spiced but excellent. Every single dish was pure delight! None only the meat was good quality but was perfectly cooked and prepared in such a beautiful blend of flavors. We felt like we were eating butter chicken for the first time. I personally have a huge crush on the Korma chicken and the spinach dish!! But I can't wait to go back to try more delicious food. On top of that, the pricing is incredible compared to the quality of the food!! The service was very pleasant, and the chef himself went to check on us, which was the occasion of telling him how much we loved his food!! Normally I don’t like to write reviews but this restaurant is a gem in the wholee edmonton.. this is the first time I am writing the review. My husband and me visited here for the first time and made a call for order and they prepared food in 15-17 minutes… my husband picked up the food and he said staff is just so welcoming and friendly… Here’s go the main part- we ordered biryani, curry and mint soya chaap… everything is just soo delicious and with each bite we were getting flavourful taste… especially mint soya chaap flavour was just same as India.. from last 5 years I have never got this taste of soya chaap… the biryani and curry was just soo yummy from aroma to flavour is just so good that I don’t have enough words to express… but we have found this gem now it is going to be our permanent food corner… i 100% recommend this place as it is going to give you the vibe and taste of India… so please do yourself a favour and must visit this place…. ~ Jaanprit k

It was my first time ordering from Spicy Hut. The chicken curry was spicy (just the way I requested it) and pakoras were delicious. Skip dots not give you 🌶️ options when you order so I called in the request to make it hotter. When I called I wanted to check if my order came with rice, to my surprise it did not because I did not spend $25 to get the free rice. The owner was gracious and sent me a free order of rice. This is the type of hospitality you get from a family owed business. I will definitely order again looking forward to trying the vegetables samosas. ~ Lizzamarie M

Food was amazing! I had the butter chicken, coconut naan bread, hot and sour soup, and veggie pakoras which were so good I just ordered more today for delivery. Staff are very polite and are quick to acknowledge you. The decor is ok. It's in a "less desirable" part of the city but don't let that stop you from trying here! The food is absolutely worth the visit. Order more than you can eat so you can take leftovers home, you'll want to! You can pick your spice level too which is nice. This particular genre of cuisine, as I've mentioned before, is one of my favorites. With so many different types of locations and variations and styles, it's hard to pinpoint one as a focal point..... But this place definitely has my attention. Hidden gem in the city! This Indian restaurant blows every other place out of the water. We ordered mixed vegetables, paneer pakora, chaat papri, chicken momo, goat curry, palak paneer, aloo gobi with rice and naan- everything was so delicious and differently flavoured!!! The mango lassee is exceptional- the perfect balance of tart and sweet 🤤🤤🤤 the owner is a lovely man and it’s a humble place with flavour as the priority. So far this is the favourite restaurant in my neighborhood. They have great prices and amazing portions. There are so many awesome dishes I can recommend but will let you choose yours. So far, the favourites at my house are the coconut curry, prawns, and coconut curry chicken. My favourite so far is any of the chilli dishes. Chili chicken or chilli fish. There’s quite the selection on the menus, and I am not too sure what to try next but everything I’ve had so far has been excellent. ~ Gary B

Just finished my second lunch in the last 8 days. Amazing food and lots of it for a super fair price. The owner Bhoj is a class act and fantastic cook. I had Mango Chicken and Curry Beef with Indian tea and mango custard for desert.. The best custard in my whole life!!!! WOW If I didn't live on the south side I'd live here... This is the best Indian food I've eaten since I have moved to Edmonton in 2008! Dont miss out on this small hidden gem, 5 stars all the way! ~ Curtis R

5 stars just isn't enough to give to this hidden gem. The food is fresh and flavourful on a higher level all it's own. The prices are very reasonable for the portion size and staff are all very welcoming and freindly. The owner also came out to see if we were pleased with our food which shows a lot of pride in his craft and skill which comes through in the food. I recently ordered food for take out at this restaurant and Had a special request for the chef because of the dietary preference my friend had (Jain food ) the Main chef was not only welcoming but he went above and beyond to help out to accommodate the dietary preference plus the quality of food was amazing. The food is delicious, always fresh and flavourful. It makes great takeout, but dining at the restaurant is even better: it's like visiting family. Great portions, phenomenal desserts, and warm and welcoming staff. We've tried lots of things on their menu and never been disappointed. You really can't go wrong. They are halal certified and have lots of vegetarian options, so it's a great place if you have dietary restrictions. ~ Kat F

Took mother in law here for Mother’s Day, ordered lots of different dishes with medium spice and each dish was unique and a carnival of flavours and also comes with a plate of rice so that none of the sauce goes to waste. At the tail end of dinner the chef came out to greet us and he was unbelievably friendly and nice. I haven’t been here, but I’ve heard great things. I’ve heard it’s like eating at your aunties house. I drove down for dinner and after I found it, I couldn’t find any parking. I was going to call the restaurant to ask if I could park in the back, but there wasn’t any phone number on google. I ended up leaving, but wish I could have tried it. We ordered a beef biryani and I must say, definitely recommend! We thought biryani dish was mainly rice, but it was generous on the meat portions in it, and the taste was delish!! The chicken lahori is a very flavorful dish and highly recommended as well. My husband and I enjoy our food spicy, and they definitely cater to that! We will for sure be coming back again! Serious love this place. Incredible food. I have been there twice so far and even just thinking about the food makes me hungry. Super decent portions, I can have a dish for lunch for probably 2 or 3 days after. The rice portions are large, the coconut rice is amazing. The korma has been my favourite so far and the paneer dishes have also been amazing. Don't even get me started on the naan. It is so freaking good. ~ Tayler T

We had food delivery for 20 people on our daughter's bday. The quantity was decent but the flavors were outstanding. The appetizers were gone in a blink. The best part was the food was not too oily and the chef accommodated the spice level of different dishes as per preference. It was a very warm experience talking to him in person. I ordered pickup for what I thought was going to be a quick meal for two, but something a little different... It was different for sure, it was fantastic! The dishes were spiced well (and appropriate for what I ordered), the portions were very generous and we REALLY enjoyed the flavours of everything. The customer service is absolutely phenomenal, me and my family came from Calgary and were mind blown by the culinary perfection and depth. Spice was an essential part in this success. Along with all of the kind service we were greeted by a birthday cake for my sister on the house furthermore bettering the superior customer service.
